Swimmers Help Out Hurricane Evacuees

Sept. 9, 2005

SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah swimming and diving teams took the time this afternoon to help out the Gulf Coast natives who are now calling Camp Williams and Salt Lake City their home.

"We are happy to do our part to help those who have lost so much to Katrina," remarked senior Amber Walker. "After reading that people have been in the same clothes for days, this donation made the most sense to our team."

The team donated three dozen Utah swimming and diving T-shirts, and sweatshirts to Hurricane Katrina evacuees who have been temporarily relocated to Salt Lake City's Camp Williams.

The Utes open their season on Oct. 14 against BYU and Villanova at the Don Reddish Relays. The meet will be at the Ute Natatorium and will begin at 6 p.m.
