Utah center Andrew Bogut was named Mountain West Conference Co-Player of the Week on Monday, Jan. 24, sharing the honor with Wyoming's Justin Williams. It was his fourth MWC award this season and fifth for his career. Bogut also was named the Player of the Week by Sports Illustrated.com's Stewart Mandel and one of the "top performers" for the week by the John R. Wooden Award Watch.
Bogut led the Utes to a 2-0 record the week of Jan. 17-23 with conference wins over Colorado State and New Mexico. He scored 25 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in the road win over the Rams. Bogut tallied 24 points and grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds versus the Lobos, hitting 11-of-14 field goals, as well as blocking three shots. His 20-20 effort against New Mexico was one of only six in the nation this season and the second in MWC history.
For the week, Bogut averaged 24.5 points, 19 rebounds and two blocked shots, while
shooting 60 percent from the field (21-for-35). He leads the MWC in scoring and rebounding
this season tallying 19.7 and 12.3, respectively, per contest.
